EHI Now Alzheimer's Center
Alzheimer’s Disease & Cognitive Impairment
Finally a treatment that shows promise. EHI is proud to announce our partnership with Muses Labs to offer a personalized protocol to treat or prevent Alzheimer’s disease and mild cognitive impairment.
The basis of this protocol was developed by the world renowned UCLA Alzheimer researcher Dr. Dale Bredesen.
What do we mean by Cognition?
It is defined as conscious mental activities; thinking, understanding, learning & remembering.
Alzheimer’s Disease is the most common form of dementia. It accounts for 60-80% of cognitive decline (dementia) cases. Alzheimer’s Disease usually occurs in middle aged to older adults. Ultimately Alzheimer’s Disease is fatal and is now on par with cancer and heart disease as a leading cause of death. Currently in the U.S there are 5.2 million individuals with Alzheimer’s Disease and that number is projected to increase rapidly.
Muses Labs, utilizes the personalized MEND (Metabolic Enhancement for Neuro-Degeneration) Protocol. The Muses Labs website www.museslabs.com discusses the complexity of treating and preventing Alzheimer’s disease and cognitive decline. “There are dozens of biological mechanism, with hundreds of interventions involved in addressing this disease and the therapeutics vary by person and change over time.” There are so many variables unique to each person eg; genetics, lifestyle, laboratory results, medical history, demographics, medications, cognitive ability and others. Muses Labs has designed health management software that utilizes the above information and designs a personalized protocol with specific recommendations and interventions for the patient. The MEND protocol is designed to address the active underlying pathways for Alzheimer’s Disease and Mild Cognitive Impairment including metabolic issues, toxicity, inflammation and mitochondrial damage. Individuals are retested periodically and the protocol is updated as need.
Engelman Health Institute provides the foundation for the MENDs Protocol, working closely with patients and their family members to gather significant data, provide protocol outcomes, Dr’s visits and thorough follow up by our health coach. The health coach provides the resource for protocol implementation, guidance, motivation, progress monitoring and overall patient and family advocacy.
Up to now, there has been no single therapy which has been shown to improve and prevent Alzheimer’s Disease and Mild Cognitive Impairment. Dr. Bredesen’s small but impressive human study did show improvement. The program named MEND was very comprehensive. The results are encouraging.
Engelman Health Institute is proud to be one of the Medical Facilities that is now offering the exciting MEND program for those who fit the criteria for eligibility.
Engelman Health Institute is available to speak with you or your loved ones to explain the program. We have built our reputation on caring, kindness and intellectual expertise. Please call to learn more. Time is so important!
