President & CEO

Mark R. Engelman, M.D., ABAARM, FAARM, FSCM is the founder and president of the

Engelman Health Institute.  Dr. Engelman has extensive education and advanced training

in the field of Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine.  He is an M.D., originally trained in

Internal Medicine with an emphasis on cardiovascular disease.  He has attained Board

Certification, as well as Fellowship Status in Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine.

Dr. Engelman is one of only twenty-one worldwide to attain Fellowship Status in the

field of Stem Cell Medicine.

Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine refers to incorporating the newest technology and

scientific discoveries, along with the individual aspects of each person’s unique biology, and

tailoring personalized health programs specifically designed for them.  The field

also integrates a number of disciplines including Traditional Chinese, Ayurveda and

Natural Medicine.

After his original Internal Medicine training Dr. Engelman was recruited by the Department of Emergency Medicine at the world renowned St. Joseph’s Hospital Medical Center and Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Arizona.  He was one of the pioneers of Emergency Medicine as a Board Recognized Specialty.  After two years as a staff physician in the Emergency Department, Dr. Engelman was promoted to the position of Department Medical Director.  He remained in that position for over twenty years and built the Emergency Department into one of the most well-respected in the United States.  Dr. Engelman was well aware of episodic care as part of the medical delivery system and became frustrated at the limited time he could spend with the patients and their families.  He was unable to allot the time he felt was necessary to explain the medical problems to the patient and suggest possible solutions which could prevent or mitigate future health difficulties.

He became aware of the emerging field of Anti-Aging, Functional, and Regenerative Medicine.  Dr. Engelman immersed himself in course work, studying and achieved a thorough understanding of this new approach to optimum health and wellness.  The core ideas of fully integrated, personalized health and wellness were the guiding principles Dr. Engelman incorporated when he developed the Engelman Health Institute.

The Engelman Health Institute is a unique health and wellness destination dedicated to incorporating, in one location, the disciplines which are essential to optimum health.

Director of Medications

Ronald Barron is a practicing pharmacist with over thirty years of experience.  His interests are in Pharmacogenomics, Natural Products, and Medication Safety issues. He is a member of the American Pharmacists Association.

While chairman of the Medication Safety Committee at a large teaching hospital in Cleveland Ohio, Ron changed the direction of the committee from one of statistically reporting on medication errors, to the active prevention and mitigation of medication errors.  His independent studies on natural plant products lead to a discovery of a plant extract with oxytocic characteristics.

Ron is involved in the review of medications.  His approach is one of simplicity: avoiding or reducing drug adverse reactions, looking for duplications of therapy, identification of drug to drug interactions, opportunities to reduce or eliminate medications, changing therapy to less expensive medications, and tailoring medications to the individual using pharmacogenomics methods.

Pharmacogenomics is the study of how individual genetic makeup can affect a patient’s drug response.  This rational approach to drug therapy delivers personalized medicine, so that optimal therapy is reached for each individual’s own genetic makeup.  Optimization can be either to reduce toxicity or increase efficacy.
